Background
- After seeing TopSpin Technologies win the NFL 1st and Future Award for Innovations to Advance Athlete Health and Safety, Georgia Tech Football explored new training methods to enhance neck strength and stability.
- In the spring of 2021, the team integrated TopSpin360 into their offseason training to assess its impact on neck strength and athletic preparedness.
- These players all had either a history of concussion, history of neck pain or history of headaches (or all of the above)
Intervention
- 13 players were identified as having a history of neck-related concerns (including past concussions, neck pain, or headaches).
- Players trained twice per week using three sets of 30 revolutions, totaling less than 5 minutes per session.
Observations from the 2021 Season
- Georgia Tech’s 123-player roster recorded 13 concussions that season.
- Among the 13 athletes who trained with TopSpin360, these athletes had consistent player availability by imporved resilience
- The team also achieved its first bowl game win in 8 years, marking a strong season overall.
